From Biomarker Strategy to Spatial Proteomic Panel: Designing Custom Panels on Orion™

As spatial biomarker programs move into translational and clinical research, researchers need to refine broad biological questions into focused panels—often working from limited, precious samples where panel reliability is essential. Designing those panels requires careful consideration of which biomarkers to measure, how they perform together, and how the panel can be adapted as the research program evolves.

On the Orion™ spatial proteomics platform, up to 18 biomarkers are measured in a single round of staining and imaging. There is no staining order to determine, and the single-round workflow preserves antigen and tissue integrity. Biomarkers can be drawn from a portfolio of 600+ IHC-validated conjugates that share one antigen retrieval condition, so they can be combined into any panel. Custom biomarkers can be added through ArgoFluor™ conjugation kits or RareCyte's conjugation service.

In this 30-minute practical session, RareCyte Field Application Scientist Mickael Meyrand will demonstrate how to translate a biological research question into a custom spatial biomarker panel on Orion. The session introduces the Orion Panel Designer and shows how it configures a panel and assigns each biomarker to its optimal channel.
